Best-selling author, host, speaker, former star-athlete turned athlete transition coach, JayCee is one of the top upcoming motivational speakers and host in the game. Whether she’s speaking about how to finish the sprint in life, purpose or hosting a sports entertainment event, her energy is unmatched and infectious with crowds as large as 13,000. However, her story is the most unconventional story that continues to unfold daily. While she is an On-Air Radio Talent today, her first love will forever be basketball.
JayCee has shared her message and worked with countless brands. When called upon JayCee is defined as a crowd controller and an inspirational provider. Some of JayCees past clients include Under Armour, Nationwide, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., CIAA, NASA, McDonald’s, BET, DTLR, REVOLT and more.
The dream was always to make it to the WNBA, however, June 10, 2009 was the last year her name was attached to any roster. It was during her transition from high school into college which started at Elizabeth City State University that her athletic journey started to fade vastly. Unfortunately, she never received her moment of shine in a collegiate uniform due to the negligence of a few coaches. She tried three Universities, three different coaches only to never fulfill her dream of playing in college. Recruited, invited to preseason workouts, countless open gyms, endless workouts and weight lifting sessions, only to hear the words, “You’ll never be good enough to touch the floor” from a college coach she was once offered to play for. Unsuccessful in her attempts of becoming a household athletic name and representing a University utilizing her athletic abilities, JayCee became depressed, lost her identity beyond the game, and gained weight. Even had suicidal thoughts.
It wasn’t until her last collegiate year that she realized the “edutainment” industry was her true calling. Since then she’s utilized her gift of speaking and hosting to inspire and maintain crowd control as if she’s still playing her point guard position.
From hosting college parties, to speaking at National College Signing Day for former First Lady Michelle Obama, to the national television and radio airwaves. JayCee utilizes her story to show up daily for current and former athletes that are approaching their last days in their career. She lives by the phrase, “the best version of me unlocks the best version of someone else. So I have to show up EVERYDAY, just like I would for gameday.”
After taking that approach, JayCee started a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization called “From Saggin' To Suited,” where she sponsors young men that are athletes for their high school senior prom while helping them get into college through scholarships. She was awarded by CIROC as a Women Making Power Moves in 2018. In April 2021 she became a certified speaker under Dr. Eric Thomas (better known as ET The HipHop Preacher).
Most recently JayCee became an Amazon Best-Selling Author for her new book “After The Season – The 8-step guide helping current and former athletes rebrand themselves post-career.”
JayCee earned her Bachelor's Degree in Sport Management and Communications from Elizabeth City State University. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
